Truman Hoyle is pleased to announce the promotion
of Bridget Edghill and Venus Amoro-Njuguna
to the positions of Senior Lawyer.
Bridget has been with Truman Hoyle for six years and
practices in our Technology, Media and Communications Law group.
Venus, who joined the firm in 2008, is a key lawyer in the firm's
Corporate and Commercial Law group.
Bridget and Venus join Nick Hart, who was
promoted to the position of Senior Lawyer in 2008 in the firm's
Technology, Media and Communications Law group.

Truman Hoyle has today been named as a finalist in the 2008 ACOMM Awards, the prestigious Australian telecommunications industry’s awards for excellence, in the category Services to Industry – Professional Services.
This is the second consecutive year that Truman
Hoyle has been named as finalist for this award.
The awards will be announced at the Communications Alliance annual dinner on
6 August 2008 in Sydney.

The partners of Truman Hoyle are pleased to
announce the appointment of a new Partner to the firm’s Corporate and
Commercial practice.
Andrew Seaton is one of
Australia’s leading corporate and commercial lawyers, with an extensive
client following from many leading international technology,
pharmaceutical and manufacturing companies.
Prior to joining Truman Hoyle, Andrew was a
founding partner, managing partner and head of the corporate and
commercial practice at another leading Australian firm.
Also joining the firm during May and June of 2008
are Venus Amoro and
Clive Lee, both lawyers in
the firm’s corporate and commercial practice,
Megan Edwards (formerly of
the ABC) and Mitchell Kelly
(formerly of Siemens Plc in London) both of whom will practice in the
firm’s communications, technology and intellectual property practices.

and commercial practice has built on its considerable depth and

Truman Hoyle has again been named as a finalist
in the Australasian Law Awards to be presented in
Sydney in May 2008.
Truman Hoyle is a finalist in the Sydney Law Firm
of the Year category, an award which recognises the achievements of a solely Sydney based firm that has built an enviable reputation in the
local market for the provision of legal services.
This is the third recognition of the firm's
pre-eminence for 2008, with the firm being named as both a finalist in
the 2008 BRW Client Choice Awards, and as a top tier firm for
telecommunications, media and technology law by Australasian Legal
Business magazine.

Truman Hoyle has today confirmed the promotion of Hamish Fraser to the position of Partner and Tamara Seale to the position of Senior Lawyer.
Also announced today is the appointment of the former Legal Affairs Manager to Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group, Nick Hart, as a lawyer in the firm's Media and Intellectual Property Law team.

Truman Hoyle has today announced the appointment of Lyle Abel as a partner of the firm. Lyle has over 20 years experience in leading law firms in both Australia and South Africa. He has an extensive practice in corporate, commercial and commercial property law and is a key adviser to many prominent corporations and government entities.
“Lyle will be a great asset to both the firm and its clients,” managing partner Shane Barber said. “His acknowledged skills in private equity and venture capital raisings in particular will be of great benefit to the firm’s busy and expanding advisory practice to new economy participants.”

Truman Hoyle is pleased to announce the appointment of Hamish Fraser as Special Counsel to the firm and the promotion of Sylvia Raptis to the position of Senior Lawyer.
Hamish was most recently a senior counsel to the Optus Group, providing extensive regulatory, strategic and commercial advice regarding Optus’ and SingTel’s interest in Australia. In addition to his extensive legal experience, he has practised as an engineer and acted in commercial roles within Optus.
Sylvia Raptis has been promoted to the position of Senior Lawyer in the firm’s Technology and Intellectual Property practice. Sylvia advises clients extensively on technology and communications regulatory matters, including in relation to new media issues such as online gaming. She also advises clients extensively on the creation, protection and commercialisation of intellectual property.
“Both Hamish and Sylvia are highly regarded senior professionals in the new economy industries. Their appointment and promotion will make a significant contribution both to the firm and its clients,” managing partner, Shane Barber said.

Truman Hoyle has today been named as a finalist in the Australasian Law Awards to be presented in Sydney on 15 May 2007.
In the category of Sydney Law Firm of the Year, finalists are nominated by a panel which takes into account the results of a peer review and an analysis of other third party material. An independent panel of judges then makes a final determination.

Truman Hoyle was today named Australian Law Firm of the Year (firms under 50 lawyers) for the second consecutive year. The award was presented at the 2006 Australian Law Awards ceremony held at Dalton House in Sydney.
The Australian Law Awards are presented following a rigorous judging methodology undertaken by in house counsel, private practice lawyers and consumers of legal services.

Truman Hoyle is joined today by Alex Ninis, Partner and Gerard Doolin, Senior Lawyer. Nick Finlayson today joins the Truman Hoyle partnership to lead the firm's property and infrastructure team. Nick has been a senior lawyer with the firm for the past 3 years and prior to that time had spent many years in two of Australia's largest law firms. Nick has a strong client following of corporate property developers based on the east coast, as well as serving the property and infrastructure needs of the firm's considerable client base of industrial and technology businesses. Nick has extensive experience in the rollout of telecomunications networks, having acted as a key advisor on a number of high profile projects.

The firm this month celebrates 50 years of continuous service to the firm by our partner, David Scutts.
David joined PG Truman, Stocker and Co in 1956 as an article clerk and following his admission as a solicitor in 1961 he became a partner of the firm. The firm then became known as PG Truman, Stocker and Scutts.
During his 50 years in the law, David has seen many changes, not the least of which have been those at his firm, now called Truman Hoyle. David continues in the firm not only as Chairman of Partners but as head of our Property and Infrastructure group.

Due to our recent growth, Truman Hoyle has today moved to new premises across two floors of 68 Pitt Street, Sydney.
The new state of the art offices include enhanced client service facilities, including a venue for seminars. The next scheduled seminar is at 5:30pm on November 10 2005 where the firm’s Industrial Law team, lead by Fiona Inverarity, will present on Australia’s new Industrial Relations legislation.

Truman Hoyle has today announced the appointment of two new partners and their teams.
Fiona Inverarity, regarded as one of Australia's leading industrial and employment lawyers, joins the firm from PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal. Joining her team is lawyer Karen Bohm, a former University Medalist from the University of Wollongong and most recently with a leading firm in London.
Mark Vincent joins the firm as a partner heading up the Technology and Intellectual Property practice. Mark was most recently Managing Director of Griffin Vincent Technology and Intellectual Property Lawyers. Mark's team includes Robert Rudolf, lawyer.
Both partners bring to the firm enormous experience and excellent reputations as lawyers at the cutting edge of their chosen specialties.

The firm is pleased to announce a number of new appointments and confirm a number of recent promotions.
Shawn Skyring (Partner) will, from today, join the firm’s Industrial practice. Shawn joins us from PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal where he has been a key member of one of Australia’s premier Industrial practices in recent years. His clients include some of Australia’s leading corporations and organisations. Joining the firm with Shawn is Tamara Seale, Lawyer.
Steven Goodman has recently been promoted to the position of Partner in our Corporate and Energy practices. Steven is formerly senior corporate counsel with AGL and, prior to that, spent a number of years as a senior associate with a leading international law firm. Steven is currently advising a number of the firm’s clients in the communication and bio-technology industries on ASX listing issues and Listing Rules compliance.
Lisa Vanderwal, senior lawyer, joins the firm from PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal and is a highly regarded specialist in communications and technology law. She also holds post graduate qualifications in intellectual property law from the University of Melbourne. Catherine Mullins is now a senior lawyer in the firm’s Corporate practice group and currently represents a number of the firm’s key corporate and communications clients before a number of Australian courts. Catherine is completing a PhD in bio-technology through the University of Tasmania.

Truman Hoyle has today completed a transaction in which it advised members of the management team of a US based global pharmaceutical company on the management buyout of its Australian manufacturing operations.
The transaction, undertaken over the past two months, involved not only the acquisition of shares and the reorganisation of the Group's assets, but consideration of considerable taxation, financing and intellectual property licensing issues.
In addition, the Truman Hoyle team of Shane Barber (Partner), Steven Goodman (Senior Lawyer) and Bridget Edghill (Lawyer) advised the new business on its key pharmaceutical manufacturing contracts.

Truman Hoyle’s commercial litigation team has successfully represented Hutchison Telecommunications in its much anticipated appeal to the NSW Land and Environmental Court against a decision of Baulkham Hills Shire Council.
The Court’s decision, handed down today, provides long awaited clarity in relation to the standards to be applied when measuring electromagnetic emissions from mobile telecommunications base stations, comfirming the relevant standard to be applied is that made by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency in May 2002.

The firm has acted for the shareholders and board of Personal Broadband Australia Pty Ltd in the acquisition of significant new funding, announced today, for the commercialisation of the world’s first iburst mobile data communications network. The network, to be rolled out across Australia, uses revolutionary technology developed by San Jose based company, ArrayComm. Other shareholders of Personal Broadband Australia include Mitsubishi Corporation and Kyocera Corporation, both of Japan, and Mitsubishi Australia Pty Ltd. |
